Ben Martin
They have started teaching BJJ is my gym so when my back is better im thinking of trying it out. ive practiced it before in the gym with this guy who wanted to improve his stamina so he was sraping with quite a few people. i didnt really have a clue what to do i was jusy trying to survive. i didnt really like it much the fact that i couldnt stike was off putting as i think id be more of a ground and poud guy when it comes to the ground. i also didnt like having this guys sweaty chest all in my face. but even so BJJ has a really good rep.so what sort of things do you do e.g warm up, techniques and sparing.i also read in another post before that if you have taken a stand up art then do a ground art it can be quite boring has anyone done that? Thanks Strive to Become The Type Of Person That Others Do Not Normally Encounter In This WorldI would love it if everyone i spoke to or met throughout my life would benefit from being with or speaking to me. - Life goalI See The Sunshine But Their's A Storm Holding Me Back. makosub-wrestling
I think it depends what you want from it . If you want to beable to keep those of us who like to grab a striker and slam him down so we can bring the pain then you need to have some ground defence in your bag. Now if it just for fun and you find male contact strange then just get real good at lucky punching your way through life. I hit like a girl (not a tough girl) so i go for the takedown fast. makosub-wrestling
just find a partner and practice sprawling and clinch defence it works for Chuck in the ufc he has been on his back very few times. Dont bother with submissions, you need years of rolling on the mats to be effective and not get knocked out while going for them. Just learn how to get back to your feet if taken down. Good luck either route you go.
Ben Martin
it doesnt bother me about how long it takes to train in any art..... but if that is good enough for chuck its good enough for me. thanks:) Strive to Become The Type Of Person That Others Do Not Normally Encounter In This WorldI would love it if everyone i spoke to or met throughout my life would benefit from being with or speaking to me. - Life goalI See The Sunshine But Their's A Storm Holding Me Back. Ego Assassin
It doesn't take years to be effective with Submissions unless your wanting to compete on a pro level. If you just want to learn more about Grappling BJJ is the versitale grappling art out there because they do take moves from wrestling judo and sambo when they have proven effective. Also if you didn't like these guys on top of you then that should be motivation to learn from them how to prevent this from happening. They say BJJ is the pitbull of MA for a reason. Once they are on you they don't let go or let up. You only release one hold for a better one. Pitbulls have a love for fighting contact and so does BJJ. Game dogs fight in silence with no posturing and no theatrics no whining or yelping just forward movement always at the opponent. Maybe you should question your heart rather than your training. Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward,Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both,For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, If I live I will kill you, If I die you are forgiven.Such is the rule of HONOR! makosub-wrestling
It does not take years if the guy you are fighting knows very little about sumissions and counters but if you train for six months and think you are going to be effective aginst someone who has been training on the mats for years you are going to lose most of the time.
