mean fighter Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I agree If you wash your hands in anger, you never have clean hands
Goju_boi Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 It could however be made into a documentary or be in martial arts magazines. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
Aodhan Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 "We're not studying the arts for other people's entertainment."it doesn't need to be televised.Yep. One of the few good quotes from the movie "Bloodsport" was this: "Kumite is for the fighters, not the people who read newspapers"Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
Muaythaiboxer Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 thats a good quote anyways it would have to be under MMA style rules(maybe a little less) because otherwise you give either strikers or graplers the advantage (yes i know MMA gives strikers a small advantage), if there was a TKD expert who wanted to compete and he got beaten by a Judo guy cause he dident know how to grapple then the Judo guy was beaten by a kyokushin fighter cause he didnet know how to strike the better fighters would still be on top regaurdless of who met who on the way up. oh yea a small thought who would be allowed to fight? would it be the best people from each style or would it be opean? Fist visible Strike invisible

You get some schmuck that has the tournament of several lifetimes and qualifies over some guy that had a cold that day and could barely walk. And yeah, you'd have to limit the techniques, which already starts to delineate a watered down tourney.Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
Goju_boi Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 You can't water down the techniques, because if you do then you can't show the art to it's fullest potential. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
White Warlock Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 You can't water down the techniques, because if you do then you can't show the art to it's fullest potential.Which is why you can't have rules... Goju_boi Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 exactly.I guess participants would have to signa waiver of some kind. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
Muaythaiboxer Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 um why not make it MMA rules? Fist visible Strike invisible
White Warlock Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Because although it has been argued repeatedly that MMA rules no longer really favor strikers or grapplers, it definitely disfavors 'real-aspect' combatants. The rules exist that prevent people from fighting as they would in a street scene, when their lives are on the line. The ultimate goal of the martial arts is to ensure you survive a confrontation, not win in a competition, therefore the goal of a competition that is geared towards finding the 'best of the best' should stay focused on the ultimate goal of the martial arts, not the ultimate goal of 'sport competition.'
