mourning_ Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I was wondering if taking just 3 months of BJJ would be worth it? Now i know what your first reaction is, NO. BUT i thought it might help me out a little bit with ground work. I've been taking krav maga for two months now, and its helped ALOT. I plan on taking it for the next 3 1/2 months also. So i thought that mayeb soem BJJ or some form could help me out a little bit.(i ship for boot camp febuary 5th, and i plan to take 6-7 months worth of Gracie Jiu Jitsu? after boot)comments?
b3n Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 It's better than nothing i suppose. My Nidan Grading! Shorinryu Sensei Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Well, it certainly won't hurt. It's going to depend on how the teacher runs his class and what he teaches you. I would think that 3 months would be worth it. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
SubGrappler Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 It will certainly be well worth it. In three months of BJJ you can expect to know the basic escapes from poor positions and a few basic finishes from dominant positions that can end up giving you a huge advantage over someone else not trained.
pineapple Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 A little bit of training is certainly better than no training especially since you plan on continuing your training after boot camp.Do it! What works works
mourning_ Posted October 15, 2005 Author Posted October 15, 2005 oohhrayyy! i start tuesday. 2-3 nights a week along with my krav maga. thanks alot guys.
Goju_boi Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 cool, the only negative thing from it I guess is that you have to go and get a uniform and gear for only 3 months. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
mourning_ Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 oh man, i've been twice, and so far i've learned, 3-4 takedowns when on your knee's and a throw from a rear choke (one arm wrapped around neck) and both of those go into arm bars, and then i learned an arm bar for when opponent is on top of you. now if i only knew mount, etc etc etc and the names, i'd be good to go. oh ya, i don't ship for about 6 months now, ohray!
Mr. Mike Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 your original question was "is 3 months worth it?"Look at what you learned in two days. Imagine...3 more months. You may even be hooked longer. When a man's fortunate time comes, he meets a good friend; When a man has lost his luck, he meets a beautiful woman.-anonymous
Goju_boi Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 "3 more months. You may even be hooked longer"yep, and you can return to training when you get back https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
