Coralee Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 make sure your using your hips to deliver the kicks...if you swing your hips into it your leg will immediately follow..good luck! "The key to immortality is first living a life worth living" Bruce Lee
White Warlock Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 make sure your using your hips to deliver the kicks...if you swing your hips into it your leg will immediately follow..good luck! That would be more for power, not speed. Also, it's not applicable to all types of kicks. Nonetheless, i do prefer the kicks that incorporate hip movement and do think it's a good idea to practice building speed in your actions while utilizing your hips. Otherwise, you could very well be compromising power and functionality for speed. "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro
supajuice Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 this drill is for also balance and to get the form right:do as you normally would do a front kick. dont do the whole thing yet, right before you kick, stop. kick with the other leg and that's a jumping front kick. don't put your foot on the ground, leave it like the other leg was. go on and remember that you could do it with other kicks(not stretch ones). I hope you understand . I slayed 200 flies with my foot and I got to poke a bird before it went away. I always wanted to do that...STICKAAY!

Takezo Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 The most suitable thing for that are repetitions of your techniques and kata.Practice it everyday. Remember some combinations from training and do them at home. For the 1st month do them a 100 times on each side. For the 2nd go to 250 or 300.Dedicated your self to it and your bound to carry out actions as if it were reflex.
