Superfoot Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 How many of you think that Judo is a style unto itself, or another style of Ju-Jitsu? I read this concept on another web page and it got me thinking. Is Judo a style of Ju-Jitsu, or an art on its own. Perfect Practice makes Perfect.
White Warlock Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Frankly, i don't consider it as much a style, but an approach to jujutsu. I.e., the way it is practiced and performed, modified by Jigoro Kano to ensure that it can be practiced full-on with relative safety, allows the practitioners to be better conditioned, better in-tune with their body's mechanics than the ju-jutsu practiced at the time. Do also note that many jujutsu styles merged with the Kodokan, and thus today's judo is a bit more 'expansive' than merely 'one' style.
