tkd-student Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 My school is a Tae Kwon Do school, but I am pleased that my instructorsalso teach Judo throws and Aikido holds. Mostly we concentrate on TKDbut I agree that it's better to have more options and techniques available so if you can, go for both. don't get mad, don't get even, get ahead
KarateKid6781 Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 umm, its not all about which is better. its which you find better for yourself
lgm Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 umm, its not all about which is better. its which you find better for yourselfIndeed, and if you have opted which martial art is better, you have to explain what you mean by "better". Is it better because you feel you can perform it better or because it is better for your purpose in learning it , either self-defense or sports competition. A more difficult question to settle is which of two martial arts is better for most people of a given location at a particular period. This will require a much more intensive and extensive scientific random survey of the general populaltion. Unfortunately, this cannot be accurately based on only a few opinions or a limited survey of the opinions of all KF members responding to the question, which is a less reliable biased convenience sampling.
tkd-student Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 O.k. yeah, I guess I was thinking about self defensetactics, sorry. Anyway I would say, learning two styles at the same time would be difficult but not so if you have enough time in a day. don't get mad, don't get even, get ahead
