kivikala Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 good luck watch your fingersI know you are just kidding, but for those gentle folk who have no idea about kendo, there is little or no risk if a student is properly suited up. However... beginners are very very dangerous.... KOTE! MEN! IPPON!

yamesu Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Get ready for blisters on your palms, and to fall in love with your Shinai. At Kendo schools ive been to, repetition is key to mastering techniques. Much the same as most other MA's. Determination is essential, but as your already a Nidan, Im sure you wont have any trouble.Good luck. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children."

Meguro Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Always check you shinai for splinters or get yourself a composite one.Dry out your dogu before storage.Stretch your calves and be prepared for forearms like Popeye.
