angus88 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 That's a tough position, and a major reason we don't let 7 year olds in our school. At 8, you can train them to take it kind of seriously. That one year, in my opinion, makes a huge difference. Dealing with the situation at hand, I think it would be more awkward to pull him off the stage than to let him finish. But that would be his final "performance" of the night and there would definitely be a little talk afterwards!
ramymensa Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Agree with you I wouldn't take him off stage, but would seriously consider getting him in a demo again ... World Shotokan Karate
jaymac Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I would not have pulled the student from the stage. I would have pointed to another student or a group of students who were not jumping around and say, "wow, I like how you are not jumping around and you are focused and being respectful of those around you. Your awesome!" Usually that works. If it did not, I may afterwords ask him/her, did you have to use the restroom, I noticed you were having a tough time standing still. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
