AndrewGreen
Not stupid, just not fighting.Get's some traditionalists in a huff though...The flashy stuff is great, takes a good deal of co-ordination and athleticism and is lots of fun. I'd prefer to do that over traditional kata, of course I'd prefer to spar over either of those Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news! Shorinryu Sensei
No huff here...sorry. As long as people understand that the flasshy stuff is just for fun, and doesn't work other than for show, I have no problems with it. My issue with it is instructors TEACHING flash as legitimate, good technique. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Goju_boi
like mentioned already if it's for fun then yeah, but I wouldn't mind doing flashy stuff with weapons.Becuase chances are that youre not going to use a pair of sais , bo , escrima in a real fight. On the other hand empty handed all I want is usefull stuff. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
orion82698
I 100% agree with you all. I just want it for fun, and a challenge for myself. I love the traditional way as well. But, it's fun to change it up, and keep things fresh! Thanks for the replies! Meguro
If you consider flashy to be theatrical, almost every Steven Segal movie( where he's near a pool table and a bad guy happens to break a pool cue in half) features stick fighting. Also, the "Bourne Supremacy" (movie not the book) has a knife vs. rolled-up magazine fight scene.Obviously googling escrima, Kali and Arnis will dredge up many more examples and vid clips. Goju_boi
oh ok. I guess he would do stick fighting being that aikido uses a lot of staff techniques. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
