karatekid1975 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I guess this is where this goes ... LOLAnyways, I am testing for senior red (again) in November, and if I pass, I will get a thick black stripe on the right side of my belt. The three little ones on the left come off. But my belt got wet in the rain (actually EVEYTHING on me did LOL) at my last test from cleaning up outside. And now there is adhesive stuck to my belt (I took one of the stripes off to check it out). How do I remove adhesive? Thanks in advance. Laurie F
ShotokanKid Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I would scrape it off a little bit at a time. I had this problem with my bike, and I bought bug and tar remover. Since your belt isn't metal, I can't advise you to do that. The best I can do for you is to tell you to scrape it off a bit at a time. karatekid1975 Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 I tried that. It will take a LONG time. It's little black speckles that I would have to pick off one by one. There's LOTS of themI'm glad I'm a white belt in jujitsu. No picking nothing off my belt LOL (unless I get it dirty, then a wash would do great LOL). Laurie F
ShotokanKid Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Have you tried scraping it off with a dull knife? "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
Pacificshore Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Put your belt in the freezer overnight and then try to peel it off, or try rubbing alcohol see it that'll work. Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
ShotokanKid Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 That would probably work better than what I've told you. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
karatekid1975 Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Pacificshore, that won't bleach my belt, will it (my red belt, that is)? Laurie F
Pacificshore Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Pacificshore, that won't bleach my belt, will it (my red belt, that is)?Laurie, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking it won't bleach it. However, you can try some on a similar material of color to see what happens. Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
karatekid1975 Posted September 27, 2005 Author Posted September 27, 2005 Thanks. I'll try it like you said (on a different piece of clothing). If it doesn't bleach it, then I'll give it a try on my belt.Anyone else? Laurie F
SaiFightsMS Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Was it an adhesive that was activated by the heat of an iron, an iron on stripe? If so you may be able to place an absorbant material over the belt and reheat it with the iron and hopefully the absorbant material will absorb the adhesive.
