this is like saying which came first..chicken or egg.

liddel and arlovski are the 2 main winners in ufc and they stand up.

plus ufc or pride do not allow some of the "advanced" real life techniques that would occur ina live situation

liddel is also a division 1 wrestler who wrestled all his life and has been doing bjj for the past 7 years. this is why he is able to remain standing so well.

Alright! the "my art is to deadly" theories argument. sweet! Lets hear them. Probably something along the lines of eye gouges, groin shots, throat punches, pinching, bitting, the dim mak pressure points. the fact that you can't take your samari sword with you in the octagon.

come on lets hear them.

Although grappling can be very unwise in certain circumstances, it stands to reason that controlling weapons, for instance, is easier if you practice manipulating balance and joints.

It also seems to me that in drunken fights, KO's might be more likely because the neck muscles don't have such fast reaction. (Not to mention that the average brawler is nowhere near the physical condition of the average MMA competitor.) Just a thought.

Probably better option if you do go to the ground if you can't run away first.

This reminds me of another point that merits mention. For those of us who specialize in run-fu, it is very possible that you will get tackled as you run away. It's something you want to avoid, but very possible. All the more reason to know how to fight on the ground if you have to.

i agree that 99% of fights go to the ground. but you have to relise you have to get passed the punch first

The chicken, definitely

Ah, but reptiles and fish also lay eggs and they were around WAY before chickens evolved therefore the egg came first.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
