hahaha, it really depends on if you're comfortable enough.

I use one style as the backbone as my whole system(my 1st and favoirt style :o Xin yi :o ) then I build other moves on top of it. So at the end old Xin yi really isn't Xin yi anymore, but you can still tell where I came from. There's habbits to everyone and it's only common sense that you do what you feel right.

yeah I know what you mean .When I spar I like to try out some jump , spin ,and airial moves,but my instructor doesn't like it , but hey it's me.

If I had the money, and the time... I would love to cross train. Muay Thai & BJJ has always peaked my interest!
That would be a good mix:traditional styles with mma.Actually Tony Jaa has a similar combination of what you want to do.He does Muay Thai and Tae kwon do.

I don't believe that all styles will blend together, but some things mix very well.

I trained in GOJU, but learned some aspects of Aikido, and Judo. Grappling techniques work real well, and can be incorporated into self defense techniques.
