swordsmith Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I practise escrima and it is awsome. "There is no bad student only bad teacher"
username6911 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Anyone one out there practice these Filipino martial arts? Don't know much about them myself, but they seem very applicable to contemporary emergency situations. You may find yourself really needing your bo or nunchaku, realizing too late that you don't carry these things around with you all the time. Whereas with Kali training, for example, you might be able to defend yourself with a rolled-up magazine, umbrella, or two nice rattan sticks you happen to keep in your back pocket. Learn Escrima!!!! and if u get a chance to go to the Philippines u should visit Bayambang in Pangasinan province and train with the "jungle boy's". My personal experience with Escrima is intense in Canada, but training in the country of origin with life time masters of the art is almost suicide! unfortunatly that was when I had lost my eye while learning never to question the methods used in stick/dagger combo. They take things quite seriously over there and keep in mind there are over 100 different styles/training systems.
ryangruhn Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 WuN-EyE, I can't find any info on these "Jungle Boy's", do they have a web site?Gruhn https://www.durattan.com ~ "THE MOST DURABLE RATTAN STAND-IN"
