TKDguy
everybody has a very good point, thats why people say that hapkido and Aikido is so hard to learn.. why? because its all about the grappling part of it that is difficult yet it can still be learned. TKDguy
Im replying for the movement of the arts. you know they are both circular movements, going with the flow, thats why SOME people say that Aikido is a peaceful self-defense. Also I was saying that because the attacker can still pull on you and try to put you off balance on the throws like Hapkido and Aikido. UseoForce
Hapkido throws, while very similar to many aikido throws, are actually closer to Japanese Jiu-jitsu throws. What this means is that the throws are usually less forgiving than aikido throws. Hapkido throws emphasize arcs, whereas aikido throws emphasize circles. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out! TKDguy
Yes it would be painful, a lot of Hapkido is Joint Manipulation, thats why I said that some people say that Aikido is a peaceful art, I would say that Hapkido is in a way a little bit more paintful than Aikido but that actually depends on the perfon using it.... but, being flipped like that is never fun... lol "Who Dares, Wins"
h2whoa
The hapkido we train in, has anything but static opponents. In the begginers range we do all the grab break out, takedown, strike basics. But unless you learn to apply it to, street style attacks, uppercuts, hook punches. You will have a small chance of survival. If you attempt a grab that misses, dont step back and say "Its over now!" If you miss hit him with an elbow technique or Hapki One (my personal favourite) nothing fancy, leave that stuff for Jet Li!! No matter how fashionable it is in Krypton, I will not wear my underwear on the outside of my Gi!!
