Jeff604
Hi,Straight to the point : were there locations in China around 500 AD where Wushu techniques were taught other than the Shaolin-Shi temple ?I was able to find a great deal of information about Chinese martial arts from -2650 to 500. Then everything seems to converge to Shaolin-Shi, and every subsequent styles of Wu-shu seems to stem from there, either "for real" or just in the mind of masters trying to attract new disciples with the "Shaolin" label.Any info on that ?thx

stonecrusher69
I'm sure the chinese government or what ever it was called at the time trained in fighting arts. The chinese knew martial arts long before shoalin temple was built. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"

Goju_boi
wasn't the reason for these societies because martial arts was banned over there or something? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
kzshin
NO, Not every socieites were initiated cuz of banned of martial arts or even has anything to do with martial art, maybe member knows martial art, but martial art is not the reason of gathering, and definately not White Lotus. Actually alot of them had many complicated society and political issues and reasons, and you really need to study them and really knows Chinese history to understand why, how and when. Some of the secret society or triad (more famous one), but not limited to are:Boxer (Yi Hur group)White LotusHong MenChin Ban....etc.they were all documented in Chinese History.
