ShotokanKid Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 As I said in my other post, I went to a tournament in Gardena. I took 2 in kumite, but my kumite was very sloppy and nothing like the way I train. How do you retain your training at tournaments? Also, someone listed a site that has tournaments listed in every state. I posted another site, but I would like to see the site the other posted listed. If you have a site that lists tournaments by state, could you post it? "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. If you aren't used to the competition atmosphere, you pump adrenaline all over the place, mental function goes all to pot, and technique gets sloppy. If you practice correctly, once you get into that environment a few times and get used to the feeling, the correct technique will come back.Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
Jay Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 concentrate on what you are doing you may get hit but it aint gonna hurt really bad so you must think that your probably gonna get hit and if you dont you freeze The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
Goldtooth Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Practice, get used to the situation, as posted above. When you can remove your emotion from a fight, it really turns into an enjoyable chess match. Enhanced comfort level can help you overcome adversity and force your opponents to deal with a variable that they may not have come armed to deal with: your brain. IronWarrior Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 What you do in the dojo and in competition are two different animals, some guys look great in the dojo and then fall apart in the ring, this is something that comes with experience and years of competiton under your belt it has to become like second nature.
ladyj Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 When you compete in Kata or Sparring your full attention must be on what you are doing and not what the others are saying or seeing. If you focus on youself and the task you will do well. Your attention will split but one or even both of the things that share the attention will suffer. Don't give up.
Gen_Tora Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 two words, spar allot... It's not that I feel the world owes me anything, I don't. But, on that note. What do I owe the world? Not a thing!
