YODA Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Do you expect a person who trains in one style to know the exect spellings from another style? I think if it sounds right it should be marked right - especially as this was a "from memory" quiz. Also - don't forget, the correct spelling of an oriental word is a set of Kanji - not a word written in our alphabet. There are quite often several acceptable spellings e.g Kung Fu / Gung Fu. Like dolly/dollyo(right) and sabumnin(right)/sa buh nim. I would like some opinions on this issue. Close is good enough for the Korean language. Some books spell a word that reflects how it is pronounced. Too many dialects are present in that part of the globe. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
SBN Doug Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I agree. As long as it's close phonetically. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
