I guess the lesson from these church leaders is it's better to have violence (one parishioner's "in your face" taunting another), than to have the appearane or perception of homosexuality (lightly tapping another on the nads as a warning). Would it have been worse if he had just kicked his butt. Well, maybe not his butt literally... :P

You are so tempting me to post something that will be deleted in a matter of moments

I'll just reserve my detailed opinion and just say that I agree with your friend, and think that the church was "wrong."

:kaioken: :kaioken: :kaioken:

???

What?

I'm just saying the guy who got tapped most likely made up some * story that the church leadership believed. That's all.

I'm willing to believe the reaction would have been the same if the person who got up in his face was a female and he did something equivalent (and the woman made up some story later on).

There is always more to the story (as was in this case)...however I do think the tap to the groin was brilliant and very on par for this young mans personality!

oops....that last post wasn't directed at you Shorin. I was replying to the initial thread. I was angered by the instant flow of thoughts about my perception of modern day Christians, the Roman Catholic church in particular.

As USC said, the church leaders seem to believe that violence is better than mock homosexuality....

Yea, uh I don't agree with the church's reaction.

The only two things that stand between an effective art and one that isn't are a tradition to draw knowledge from and the mind to practice it.

Actually, that doesn't sound like the reaction of a Roman Catholic Church to me.

Edit: I misread. At any rate, that isn't how a Roman Catholic church would react in that situation...

I still have trouble believing the church has the right information about the story.

I agree, I think there are some half truths and lots of holes in the story. What the church did is irrelevant to me.

Why was the guy in your friends face?

At that range either person could have hit first.

Why did the guy go off and "cry about it"?

How old is he?

A blackbelt is not the beginning,it's a piece of cloth, that's all.
