Pacificshore Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Yes, stretch as much as possible, but do it carefully. When working you sidekick, start out low like at knee level, that way you work on the mechanics of the kick properly. As your flexibility comes about, raise your sidekick Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
JusticeZero Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Don't do assisted stretches, you'll tear the muscle. The other person can't feel your muscle response and will overextend them. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
stonecrusher69 Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I found doing yoga help me in flexibility... http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"
granmasterchen Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 breathing is a very key part to stretching and thus flexibility.when you stretch, make it last awhile and breathe, everytime you breathe out try to stretch a little more with it....not a lot....just a little....like a centimeter or two.....everyone tries to stretch two extra inches....don't rush it That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
orion82698 Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Stretch man. My wife helps me out all the time. Plus my class kicks my butt, and they have people hold my leg up for like 5 minutes in a side kick stance, fully extended, and then they start raising it. OUCH I don't have to be the best, just better than you!Working towards 11% BF and a Six pack
Jay Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 i bet it works though no pain no gain The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
scottnshelly Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Stretch! I think the common problem with this topic is that most people set a time of day to stretch and/or exercise. Stretching can be done all the time. When watching tv, instead of just sitting there, get in the floor and do some stretches. Instead of just walking to the kitchen for a drink, do rising kicks all the way there. You can stretch for an entire day; you’re not restricted to just right before or after a workout. The more you stretch the quicker you’ll be able to do high kicks.Don’t try to rush the high kicks though. Learn your boundaries, and don’t push too far. Pulled muscles are very unfortunate.
JusticeZero Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 In stretching, once you're past your mid teens, pain means loss, not gain. Don't push yourself, just keep working on it. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
unknownstyle Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 i say it isnt working if theres no pain "Live life easy and peacefully, but when it is time to fight become ferocious."
