Jade Tigress Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I saw them both but truthfully, though I tried, I just couldn't get into them.
Goju_boi Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 lol, why not? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
giang_hu Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 If you are going to see any of these movies, I hope you all saw them subtitled and not dubbed. Also, it would help to understand Cantonese or you will not understand the jokes or the idioms they use. This goes for any film in any language, actually. When I watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon I noticed the audience didn't laugh or chuckle at certain points in the movie. This was in the United States and besides the fact that most people don't understand Mandarin in the United States, a lot of people who understand Mandarin still had to read the subtitles because the actors were speaking a more archaic version of Mandarin!
Goju_boi Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 "Also, it would help to understand Cantonese or you will not understand the jokes or the idioms they use"That would help, but I don't speak the language. It would help me if they made kung fu movies in english or spanish, but I don't see that happenening anytime soon.Oh well they were still very good movies. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
choppingfiend Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 A lot of my non-martial arts friends really dug it... they always quote it to me.

giang_hu Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 For me, even if the plot doesn't make sense, I would still enjoy the movie for the fights (if it's a martial arts film).
