elbows_and_knees Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Thanks guys, but you say they prefer elbows kicks and knees, but do they know just as much punching techinque as boxers and Kickboxers??No. the hook and uppercut are present, but are seemingly non-existant. I don't think I've ever seen one use a body hook. That's not to say that they don't, just that I haven't seen it. A knee to the body is more damaging.
Menjo Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 funny you should mention that. A few months ago, an article was put on the net about a thai boxer who chased away three knife wielding assailants that broke into his home and assaulted his mother. Speaking as someone who frequently deals with big fight situations (I'm a bouncer by night) I'll be the first to say that NO style is good for multiple attackers. In theory, any style can be - muay thai should be especially good - but in actuality, when you face multiple attackers, you are in trouble.Yea i see your point, you are in trouble when you fight groups however when i was in muay thai we only faught one guy at a time in a ring. In shotokan we spar with 3 on 1 and were taught how to take care of the situation more? Doesnt mean the thai boxer cant take on groups, just i find we werent exactly taught techniques...
