Palgue Forms (?)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! Who here studies the Palgue forms? If so please reply back, and maybe you can answer my questions! Here they are: (Both of them back to do with Palgue form 8)

1) In Palgue 8 on the hammer fist after the downblock on the first part of the form is your arm bent, or is it straight?

2) In Palgue 8 after the 2nd 45 degree strike, elbow strike, center block, and reverse punch, before the kicks you go into ready stance, then you turn sideways and kick..what is the purpose of turning sideways?

I don't do the Palgue forms, but in a tourny, I saw (and was beat by) one of them being perfomed. They are nice looking forms. I couldn't tell ya which one is was, though. It was a girl who had a blue belt with red stripe (different ranking system than our dojang). I wish I knew what form it was. It looked SWEEET :) I'd love to learn it (I'm a forms geek LOL).

Palgue forms are nice! Grandmaster Han (the founder of Youn Wha Ryu) he helped choregraph the Palgue forms, which is a really neat thing! Very well choregraphed! I'm a huge forms geek also! I do forms like its a religion! LOL! Do you remember how it started?

Lets see if I can remember .... I think it started out like Taegeuk seven (palm block, cat stance to front kick). I think that's right. It had palm stikes and knife hand blocks, and ..... sheesh, I wish I can remember. If you can lead me to a video to the Palgue forms, I could probably pick it out. But my brain just went blank LOL. Sorry.

lol, me too! I love forms/kata.

We use the Palgue patterns at my dojang, but not until a student is 1st kup. Before that we learn the Hyungs.

Go to http://www.natkd.com/tkd_forms and skim through the Palgwe forms section and check it out and tell me which one you're talking about.

I couldn't tell on those. The vids were not so good (on streaming vid). I even downloaded it and they were dark. I'll do a search to see if I can find better ones, unless you guys have better ones. Let me know if you do ;)

I'm not really sure if he teaches anywhere anymore, because he is usually busy going around doing some sort of testing, and things. His son is getting married soon, i do know that..lol! If he did have his own school I'd imagine it'd be in TX somewhere, where he first started. HTH!
