BLueDevil
Has anyone here heard of a Okinawan master named Nodan? I teacher got his DVD in the mail from a friend of his and he loaned it to me to see what I thought. In the video Nodan breaks several suspended boards then walks you through centering principles and such on how he broke them so easily. He even teaches you how to make a homemade Makiwara. Its kind of a strange video and the guy's accent is weird as well as the production on the video (which give 4 disclamers on not doing these without a professional) So has anyone heard of this guy. His DVD is titled "Centering Technique:The Five Principles"I just want to know how credible he is because I cant find anything on him nor have I heard of him before. BTW, he didnt give a last name There is no teacher but the enemy.

I dont know if its worth that much but like I said the stuff he does is pretty cool and does alot of advanced katas as well as explain his technique on breaking boards. White Warlock
Well, when you say 'advanced katas,' have you ever seen those katas before?I haven't seen the video myself, although i'm sure if i did i would be able to tell whether it was a parody or not. However, i respect the staff of The Iaido Journal, as they've repeatedly demonstrated their degree of knowledge on issues, therefore i'm more inclined to believe them than i am a salesperson. I have seen all but 1 of the kata he performed. He did 4 in all and 2 of them where brown belt katas for sure, and then he did his version of Shodan which everybody knows. BUt I understand your position, if you ever run across it check it out its funny to hear him talk, that alone make it worth watching There is no teacher but the enemy.
