White Warlock
i would have to see a video of you getting in that situation to provide reliable insight, but i 'guess' that it is because you are leading with your head and not bending at the knees. Read my post in this thread... it covers this. SubGrappler
Your back and spine should be arched as if you're looking towards the ceiling when you attack with a double leg. If your base is correct, your opponent will be unable to wrap your head, not to mention that you will be driving him to the side.An idealistic double leg will often finish with you in cross side or half guard. NotQuiteDead
One variation of the double leg that I learned in wrestling is what the coach called an "olympic double". Instead of putting your head outside their hip, you put your head on their chest or stomach, wrap your forearms around the backs of their knees, and drive straight into them. You'll probably end up in their full guard but you can avoid the guillotine.
White Warlock
I am aware of the one you are mentioning, although not aware it is called the 'olympic double.' The problem with that particular one is that it is dangerous, in that if they do succeed in doing a sprawl 'while' you are gripping their legs, it can present significant pressure on your neck as your head is 'trapped' in their abdomen while they lean back and you get pulled forward. NotQuiteDead
True, but Maddwraph asked how to avoid the guillotine lol. I only tried that double leg variation once in practice, and one of the coaches got mad at me because he thought it was just a sloppy double leg... I couldn't get it to work very well either so I just stuck with a normal double with the outside trip finish.
