Bruce WillPete7 Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Good posts guys, i just graduated from Highschool and ended my highschool wrestling career. I guess it all depends on your coach, my school was lucky to be led by a 2 time state champion, and an all american so we worked HARD. Wrestling is definitely going to help you with MA b/c imo it is one, and like many b4 have already said it will help with coordination, positioning, ground skill and takedown skill, and some of the moves are nearly submission. Before wrestling i thought it was just about grabbin each other and tossin each other around. Now its much more than that, and it can teach you alot about yourself when your in that 3rd period and it all comes down to who is tougher. Ive posted a wrestling video thread in the grappling arts section but ill repost the site here.http://www.sectioniiiwrestling.com/Video/Video.htmand heres the thread on it:http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=20982 Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. When you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; when you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; when you put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow- or it can crash. Be water my friend. ~Bruce Lee
Muaythaiboxer Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 what school did you wrestle at? my high school wrestling team has taken 1-2 at state for the past four years although this year we got a new coach. in my opinion wrestling is the best base you can have because it gives you such a good foundation to build off of for grapling or strikeing.
