Menjo Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Matt Hughes is sick! Seems to be a good coach also. Any one watch TUF 2 lately?Yea i think lidel and couture or however you spell their names were better coaches, or maybe just for tv i dunno. elbows_and_knees Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 chuck has grappled all his life. he was a division 1 wrestler in college and has been training bjj for 7 years.
unknownstyle Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 go and listen to https://www.karatekast.com episode seven, or if im wrong the one with grandmaster pat burleson and they talk about chuck liddell and his grappling skills in the ring and how he may be a striker but you have to knmow how to fight on the ground "Live life easy and peacefully, but when it is time to fight become ferocious."
Adonis Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I agree it appeared that both Chuck Liddel and Randy courture were better coaches, then Franklin and Hughes. Thats at least my opinion.
Menjo Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I agree it appeared that both Chuck Liddel and Randy courture were better coaches, then Franklin and Hughes. Thats at least my opinion.Yea, the new coaches seem a little impersonal and more about them doing what their doing rather than working fully on the team......... Adonis Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Don't get me wrong I think Matt Hughues was a decent coach I guess. I prefer Randy or Chuck though.
elbows_and_knees Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 go and listen to https://www.karatekast.com episode seven, or if im wrong the one with grandmaster pat burleson and they talk about chuck liddell and his grappling skills in the ring and how he may be a striker but you have to knmow how to fight on the groundthat's obvious... if you don't know how to defend takedowns, how can you stay on your feet? If you get taken to the ground, how can you quickly and efficiently defend yourself and get back to your feet if you don't know how?but like I said, liddel has been grappling all of his life. He's probably been grappling longer than he's been striking.
Adonis Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Yep, Just he prefers to strike and isn't known in his fights for trying to go for submission. So becasue of that his ground game is really under estimated by alot people.
