Anakin_Skywalker Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I am planning a visit to chen village and I'll be staying there for 2 yrs. If I go in September do you think I'll be learning real TaiChi Chuan? To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill.
Anakin_Skywalker Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 this thread doesn't seem too productive To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill.
chrisg Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Hi Anakin, I visited Chen village last March. I only trained there for a day but the school I was at seemed pretty good. I was shown a weapon and basic empty hand form as well as some Chen style pushing hands which was pretty impressive. Whether or not it was real Tai Chi chaun is hard to say, depends on what you call real. The master at the school certainly had lineage, and the pushing hands as a fighting art certainly seemed effective. I hope this helps and good luck with your trip.
Anakin_Skywalker Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 When I say real I mean learning Tai chi as a martial art not a meditative exercise To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill.
stonecrusher69 Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Chen Style is pretty much a real MA.It still has strong martial roots. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"

stonecrusher69 Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 It's great if you can go to China and study any art from a really good teacher, but sometimes the best teachers are in your back yard.many good masters from China left already. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"
Anakin_Skywalker Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 where are they now? To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill.
