KickChick Posted March 14, 2002 Share Posted March 14, 2002 Since many of you members are from other countries you may not be aware of this news item that involves a Texas mother who was found guilty today of drowning her 5 (6 mos-7 yrs. old) children in a bath tub. Some are opposed of the "harsh" sentence she received because many feel she was in the throes of a psychotic breakdown and that she didn't know right from wrong! She could be sentenced to death. The penalty phase begins March 14. An array of evidence was presented to show that despite her delusional behavior she knew killing the kids was wrong. She did it she says because they were not righteous and if they were allowed to grow up, would have been doomed for hell. She suffered no remorse afterwards. Revenge should never be an issue in dishing out "punishment" - Is she a threat to society? If so she should be removed from that society until she is no longer a threat. If evidence proves beyond reasonable doubt that she knew what she was doing & was able to choose & know right from wrong she should die - but not out of revenge, out of protection for our society. There were also previous serious incidents and major warning signs, that all of the above ignored, even before she became pregnant with had her last child.
