y2_sub Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 But I do know one thing, Kyokushin is the most COMPLETE martial art ive ever studied. We had a student that stopped coming to the dojo from about a year , yesterday he returned , and he claimed that he has been trying other martial arts during his gap, and that he haven't found a style that is more complete than kyokushin !!!! UseoForce Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 It has clinch, ground, and in-fighting? If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!

yamesu Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 It has clinch, ground, and in-fighting?Yep, yep, yep.Infighting is key to kyokushin tournament fighting, Clinching, groundwork, throws are practiced seperately. A. Orstrom Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I have tried both Aikido and Kyokushin and I do not think that either are "complete". They both have strengths and weaknesses, and both can be extremely effective in their own right, but you will benefit greatly by doing some crosstraining. Should I choose right now, I would probably go with the kyokushinkai because of the level of fitness it has given me; but again, try both HKD and kyokushin, they compliment eachother quite well. Goju_boi Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I would probably do hapkido, because it's more into the grappling and I don't have a strong grappling foundation. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
UseoForce Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Does traditional hapkido do much groundfighting? The Combat Hapkido groundfighting has a strong BJJ influence, amongst others. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
Goju_boi Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Does traditional hapkido do much groundfighting? The Combat Hapkido groundfighting has a strong BJJ influence, amongst others.so you can actually stay on the ground and fight for a while like in mixed martial arts? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
