yamesu
For sure,I can make myself sweat from performing one kata, once.I think it has to do with the amount of effort you put into the kata in its entirety.Osu. Shito-Ryu Girl
My Sensei always says that at the end of performing a kata you should always feel like you have had a really good work out. You don't alway need all these really long warm ups at the beginning of the class, get them doing kata..
karatekid1975
My old instructor said that if you are not tired and/or sweating after doing your forms, you didn't do it right LOL. I still believe that to this day. Laurie F
derecho
Yep, doing katas is a great workout - doing 'em right ought to tire you and get you sweaty.
Fairfax_Uechi
As others said, Kata can be a very intense workout. You get out of it what you put in. But I would say that while you're just learning the moves, don't worry so much about being "perfect" just get the moves down. Then, work to build power, speed, rythem and grace. Also, don't discount doing kata super slow. You can't see your mistakes when you go too fast.
