beaker Posted March 22, 2002 Author Posted March 22, 2002 Thanks for the feedback guys! I have decided to leave the dojo I described in the original post. They're nice enough people but absolutely everything is geared towards competition, specifically competition kumite. I have found a new dojo 15 minutes away and they're a traditional Wado club so I am really pleased, and I cannot wait to start my training with them!
steveking63 Posted March 25, 2002 Posted March 25, 2002 Wise decision breaker. You should always seek that which you desire. I favour tradition , but i also include kumite in my classes and enter comps. But Karate without the tradition in empty. and sport karate is just sport. You need to find a balance between the two. 2nd Dan Black Belt Karate 1st Dan BrithaiCardio Kickboxing Coach and Professional fitness trainer based in Cambridgeshire England
