BLACCBILLYJACC Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Here's some clips of a HKD Tourney back in June.http://briefcase.yahoo.com/blaccbillyjaccAlso here's a link for the tourney sponsers.http://www.pro-hapkido.com
supergalactic Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 That was pretty cool, I have a question what are the rules? And why don't you guys just shoot and take your opponent down more ?, It didn't seem like it was that hard to do. Man he almost had the armbar, the guy just knew how to roll into it. KempoTiger Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 I loved that early takedown in the second video....guy tries an aerial spin kick in a fight like that. Was so satisfying seeing him hit the mat "Question oneself, before you question others"

Kicks Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 I take TKD and HKD, but that was the first time I saw a HKD tournament. Looks cool. I'd like to see more too. Thanks for posting that. when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
Gyte Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 This Hapkido tournament looks more like a ju jitsu tournament. Looking at the videos I don't really see the point of kicking here. It doesn't look very useful, because the contestants don't seemed get anywhere with it. Here, the only use for kicking I can think of you is to keep the opponent at a distance. Why don't they immediately just go for grappling instead? Just like in brazillian ju jitsu. "Practising karate means a lifetime of hard work."~Gichin Funakoshi
