Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo...

Recommended Posts

Anyone have direct experience with this style? A local teacher asked me to come by and see his school and try it out for a while (super reasonable price).

I've researched it a bit online and it seems decent, I think...other than Mitose's checkered past (and the actual history of the style seems to be iffy).

He told me that they do a lot of jumping drills and octagon drills (what's an octagon drill?).

If anyone has specific info on the style, I'd be glad to hear it!

Thanks!

If your in Philadelphia, and the instructor is Nimr Hassan, please be advised that he is a convicted murderer. When he was "Terry Lee" he murdered a 70 year old man, and half killed his elderly wife, at the request of his instructor, James Mitose.

He's right, though. Nimr Hassan was "ordered" to kill that old man and his wife by James Mitose (the man many call the "father of modern kempo"). Obviously we don't know this 100% but Mitose died in jail as he was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. Hassan "found" Islam and changed his name. He now teaches in Philly...some brand of Kempo Ninjitsu.

I actually went to a class last night and loved it.

Let me explain something to everyone. James Mitose never orderd Nimr Hassan to kill anyone. The old farmer and his wife owed James Mitose money and his student voluntered to go talk to them about it. His student took it upon hisself to kill and assult the couple. James Mitose when accused did not put up a defense because he felt responsible for the actions of his student. That is the Japenesse way.

And you know this to be true, because? Dosen't sound like you know any of the people who were involved in the case, or victims in the 60-70's. And it would be pretty obvious to anyone who's read the 3140 pages of trial transcript, that Mitose indeed put up a defense.

Do you know a Kajukenbo instructor who taught around the Monterey/Seaside area in the early 80's. He was a tall black man who also sold jewelry from his house. For the life of me I can't remember his name. This article says it best. I haven't done the research this individual has done. I have been told things by people who knew Mitose Sensei first hand but this guy has done extensive research.
