I have used my training several times....and you won't guess where!!!! Only once did I have to use a technique to arrest someone.... a sweet hair grab and slam!!! But the most I have used my training is in my current occupation as a nurse. I am talking physical here not mental as I use that every day....

I have had to restrain several combative patients and/or assist others in getting out of the grasps of patients that have attacked them. You won't believe how strong an 88 year old 80 lb woman can be when she is frightened!!!!!!!!

I'm still a beginner, but I can't say as I've used my skills (such as they are). I'm also 40 years old and well past the age where I'm going to be in a fight situation. I've not been that kind of guy my whole life anyway... I'm doing TKD partly as a fitness thing, and partly as an activity my oldest daughter and I can share.

I have been thorough many fights during high school and few times in college , I am not a trouble maker but I never walked away from a fight //* I know a lot of you would disagree , but we train in martial arts to defend ourselves not to run away on confrontation *//

  • 4 weeks later...

our teacher has taught us to have fear when we're fighting, and that fear is for the person that we're fighting is goin to get hurt. so ive never been in a situation where i had to use it, but if i did i would surely fear for my opponent

Yes. I'm a boxer, and I've used my boxing skills very effectively in many fights.

Sadly, fighting just leads to more fighting. You fight one person and beat them, they got friends who come after you. Keep fighting them, random peole will pick fights with you just to test themselves.

My older brother is a pretty big guy, and when he was in his 20s, dorks would come up to him and challenge him to fight (alcohol being involved, of course), just to see if they could beat him up. He got really tired of that nonsense.

yes I have used basic punches in kicks, but I really hate fighting. I was in one or two as a kid that Im not proud of and another I could do nothing about. When I was around 18 and got attacked by 4 guys. This was late at night and I think they wanted money. They casually walked towards me and I started walking away. One said "hey man" and they came towards me swinging. one guy had a small metal pole and the others had nothing. The first one I kicked in the kneecap and punched him in the jaw with a left hook. I then was hit on the side of the neck with a pole and then on the collarbone. I fell and they got on top of me swinging, I just remember punching everywhere and then I was out. I got up a littler later and saw spots and I couldnt lift my left arm. That was halloween night along time ago and I havent fought since then.
