Enviroman
I've never had to actually fist fight anyone since I've studied martial arts. I've talked my way out of a few fights, though.
IAmGod
Thats what a lot of MA are, the more they train the less they fight. I guess we got all the fighting out of our system during training and competitions, we can see things a bit clearly.
JusticeZero
Sure. When walking across icy parking lots, when deciding what alleys not to walk down... oh, you mean if I completely forgot everything I learned for long enough to get in a hopeless situation? Sorry, haven't done that yet. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia

IAmGod
I have used my skills many time when i was younger, before 19.Mostly school fights, and random street attacks. Racial problems has been a concern in our neighbhood, so when I say "random attacks", I do mean random.
granmasterchen
yes, but not since I was 22but there were numerous occations which I used my skills up to that age. My home town was plagued with lots of gangs and such. I never had to use my skills when in the military except for a couple fights in basic training. But as many have said before, with the more knowledge and skill you possess, the easier it is to get yourself out of a situation where you would have to use your skills. That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
Manabimasho1
Many people are going to bash me for this but oh well... I used Martial Arts to defend others who can't properly defend thierself. In most cases when I see those wanna be pimps and gangsters I am looking for a fight. In years past I would go to known clubs where some of them hang out and catch a few of them when 2-3 of them were there and wait for them to start on me. Although I was looking for a fight I never actualy started it. I stopped looking for fights after I had a friend who was with me during a huge brawl get placed in the Hospital. I took it out on myself and blamed my actions for it which I know now is only 1/2 the reason he got hurt. Basicaly he now has brain damage and acts like a child at times and he was a good friend of mine. A gang beat him up outside a club and severly kicked and stomped his head while he was unconcious and the club manager did nothing. If I were single and no kids I would seek revenge, but because I know that if I continue this they will shoot at my house and try to follow me around I won't put my kids and wife in that situation. As for those who witnessed this kind of horriable violence in thier neighborhoods I feel you and would like to tell you that One man and One voice does make a differnce. Those who are the true invulerable warriors are ones who have no loved ones in the world. I have learned that phrase well.....so long as I have friends and family I have to always watch my actions. I was bullied when I was young under another instructor who taught me fighting is always wrong....My view on that has changed now and I wish I would have fought those times when I choose an open hand instead of a closed fist. martial arts was designed to protect the body from harm while teaching greater virtues and aspects about the universe, life, and the self. If one does not train in both, one will never know either. Those who seek peace, must first win a war. To become the greatest warrior, one needs to train beyond the physical and into the spiritual becoming supernatural. It is then that the warrior will know that he is indeed not the greatest, but just awakened.https://www.manabimasho.com

Reality called, and your friend can't answer. Thanks to you, "thug".
