KarateKid7
is it possible to use chi to increase strength or speed? iv herd u can but is this just a myth. possibli focussing chi in a fist will make u punch faster or legs to run faster etc...? and what about strength? viskous
i know for a fact that it can increase power not sure about speed though, but people like my dad and step brothers who practice chi are very fast, hopefully they'll teach me one day...........but im sure master jules and dtstiachi will have better answers
Enviroman
Being that I'm not super into the chi/ki thing, I can say that focus, practice, and determination (my concept of chi/ki) will always net you better results than not doing those things. Manabimasho1
Hmmm your question is very tricky to answer because so many don't understand what Chi and Ki can do. I am a firm super super firm believer that Ki energy has No limits. I believe that one needs only to boost the output energy, relax, meditate, and have faith and it will be done. I train in Iron Body but unlike others I have two perspectives. I train my body to roll and take punches in a relaxed manner then I become very stiff and do breathing exerciseing while another student or instructor hits me with a stick or board at a medium power hit. Then after an hour of both of those I use the Energy shield of Ki to keep it from hurting me. Again a person swings a board, or stick at me and I simply visualize a energy shield around my body sticking out 1 inch or so and becoming solid. Yes you can feel the stick hit you but as you relax while in pain it slowly starts to not hurt, then I ask them to swing harder and harder in new areas, I have seen people take full hits to the groin and break boards with no cup. So I believe in training for something on more then one level. WITH SPEED HOWEVER THIS IS TRICKY....Many people think of speed and don't understand there is one rule to speed....being relaxed. I often see people do reverse punches in a very strong cat stance and boom they launch thier fist and come back. What they don't understand is if they just relaxed it would go faster. Ki is the energy and faith you have that ends up performing supernatural abilities. So if you wish to train Ki for speed I would say that you first train your body to relax and kick or punch while relaxed think of a speed smack not a power hit. Then begin visualizing that you are faster then you are actualy hitting. Tell yourself "I can relax and hit faster" Realize you are faster then your oppenant and boom hit hit hit hit. The other thing about speed which everyone does wrong is chambering your hits. What good is kicking or punching at 200 m.p.h. if you chamber it all the way to your side again and set it in position for another strike? Chambering kicks and hits is only for power moves, for speed you need to learn how to do the 2-4 inch punch or kicks and deffinatly learn Pressure Points so you hit in softer areas. But while you practice Don't chamber your punches or kicks just roll around to another hit, and relax and speed hit while you do this visualize energy from your chest and stomach that fuels your speed.......then visualize it pours out into your hands, arms, legs and feet.GOOD LUCK....and to tell you the truth I really can't think of a good exercise for speed other then what I just said. As I said though Ki energy has no boundries other then your mind and non faith in something. Practice mediation and some form of kicking, throwing, or punching and visualize energy from your stomach fueling your power and speed....good luck To become the greatest warrior, one needs to train beyond the physical and into the spiritual becoming supernatural. It is then that the warrior will know that he is indeed not the greatest, but just awakened.https://www.manabimasho.com
viskous
ive been told tht isometrics(some of them) can improve speed power and chi, is there truth to this?
Kajukenbopr
Isometrics will help with your chi training, they do improve your speed and power but it takes a lot of time. The results are easy to see however. Also, isometrics help with concentration and control of your body.I recommend these types of excercises to someone who doesnt like to move around a lot(or cant, be it for lack of space, or just someone shy ) but would still like to train hard. Here I leave a link on those internal excercises: http://www.exerciseyourwillpower.com/isometrics.html <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty

You can kick as fast as you want, if you get tangled, your kick wont make it off the ground, or you could get hurt is you strike an elbow.....you should train to punch and chamber back quickly, even if its back to boxing stance, because it helps keep your guard up.Kicking should be done at the chamber, if you dont train much, speed wont come....Also, I would love to see someone break a board with their groin without a cup and not be hurt. That would be a first.... <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty
Why_Worry
What Manabimasho1 is good advice for the most part but i dont see anything wrong with chambering the fist (in fact you should because your center of chi (hara) is right near your hip so when you move your hip you are shooting out the fist from your center of chi which puts chi into the shot but if you want to see how many punches you can do in a few seconds when one hand then its probably mostly muscle power but it can be chi if done right but i like chambering my fist and found it can work pretty well. What my teachers tell me allt he time is "Muscle is limited but Chi is infinite." They also tell me in order for the chi to flow you have to be relaxed and tense muscles block the chi flowing. YOu ahve ot move from yoru center or your hara which is slightly above your "lower area" and its the center of your gravity basically. Its yoru center of chi. If you are relaxed your body can move extremely fast and you have to breath as that moves the chi. You need to train the chi to move the body and at first you need to just do the techniques while breathing and attempt to make the chi move and just remember to breath and be relaxed. Also adding a little snap in your punches or kicks or whatever sends the chi into the target. When my senseis where learning they would be at the local community center so they had showers there where they would fill a bucket with water and throw it over the curtain rail then they would punch it. There were two ways of punching it.1. They would punch it and it would just be pushing it making it go foward (there isnt anything wrong with this either but it doesnt really use chi, but its still effective just so you know)and2. They would punch it and send their chi into it so the bucket would move all that much but the water would kinda shoot up showing that it still damaged it, but it didnt really push it.Its really up to you how you want to strike but i prefer using any method that utilizes chi because even though i am fairly tall/muscular i prefer not using muscle because it is limited and i can easily be strong simply by using chi instead.
