Haha,

Bogans(auzzie for trailer trash) and other ignorant fools (footballers mainly,) call me things like NINJA, or say things like,

"Could you kick ME through a wall Bruce?"

Enticing me to start a situation with them.

It peeved me off at first, but Im not the one with a chip on my shoulder.

I eventually stopped telling people i newly met that I know MA. Less problems that way.

As for modern ninja.

Being hired by government agencies, and other private companies for things like espionage sounds like the most probable option to me.

Yep,

and even worse, theres the odd 'tough-guy' who wants to prove he can better an accomplished martial artist.

Reminds me of a situation i saw on a friday night, (well.....saturday morning,) at a local club.

Long story short, this MAist ended up side kicking this drunkard in the face, and sending him through a glass window.

Ouch, and Legalities.

Id much prefer people just think im harmless in the first place.

well if it was in self defense I don't see why all this action took place.

Because,

even though it was a situation instigated by the drunkard,

the MAist 'should' have had the restraint to end the situation in a less blood-thirsty manner.

A side kick to the face is not really self-defence, its a full-blown attack aimed at damaging the opponents head.

As well as the fact that the mAist didnt use enough control to at least only stun the guy, he sent him through a shop-front-window.

Again, not really self-defence. More like malicious damage.

The guy was drunk, like 'cant bearly stand drunk', he prob would have fallen over and knocked himself out. No need for that kind of attack.

IMO, self-defence would have been to get the heck away from the situation, by means of going to a different part of the club or otherwise. If antagonizing persisted, or the MAist was not able to get away from the situation, a simple leg kick, or stomach attack would have been suffice.

As for being banned from the dojo/club,

Would you want a ranking instructor, teaching your art if he was convicted for malicious assault/damage, simply because he did not have enough self-control to contain himslef at a local club?

I guess they thought he was really looking to get violent with the other guy. I dont really know.
