Hello every body, sorry I haven't been on for a while but I have had quite a few things to deal with. One of them is that my instructor has been teaching three hours a night, 5 nights a week, for 22 years, while also working for a land and title company. He is getting tired of doing both things and would perfer to do just Tang Soo Do but does not have enough students to make a living off of it, therefore he is semi retiring from teaching.

This means that he will let 2 of his students run the DoJang 4 nights a week and he will teach the advanced students (green belt and above) on thursday, run the testings, and other major events but basicly he is letting the 2 take over.

Both of the people who will be running it are my juniors, reason being I am only 14 and I am not aloowed to teach with my instructor's supervision. But they can not teach me either since they are my juniors. So my training is basicly over, exept for thursdays. Tang Soo Do is the best thing that has ever happend to me, and I hate to see this happen, what should I do?

Thank very much!

TANG SOO!!! & SEMPER FI!!!

I would suggest talking to your instructor to see maybe if he could possibly take some time to teach you when he has the time,

My instructor said that he will train with me on thursdays along with the other dans, but the problem about cross training is that there are really no other schools in our area. So I'm kinda stuck, but thanks for the responses guys!

By Juniors do you mean lower rank? But older than you?

Not really knowing your school or you personally please take the following in the spririt of good advice from a seasoned Martial Artist.

1. See this change as an oportunity. You may not be able to learn technique from the Junior Instructors but you can learn other skills that are helpful. I am also sure that you coud have technical imput into the lessons.

2. You and you alone are responsible for your training, you do not need an instructor there every minute of the day. So you might not learn as much as you did before but what is to stop you from reading, watching videos of other martial artists.

3. At black belt level you should be doing your own training outside of class everyday and then seeking out senior instructors for technical refinement and advice.

I agree. What's you current rank? Work on lower belt material, as an aid for the instructors if possible. A great time to learn to lead.

I agree that I don't need an instructor there all the time but in the DoJang I can ask him for advice and questions, but with him not there and they being my juniors no one can awnser my questions. And yes I do practice every day, but it goes ack to questions agian, I stumble upon them while I'm practicing. Thank for the advice though.
