I have read a lot of books, and I have far too many I like.

The Art of War, Hagakure, Plato's Republic (as geeky as that is), bash: three plays by Neil Labute, The Complete Works of Shakespeare, It's Not About the Bike, The Illiad, The Odessy, Erehwon (great book, try reading the title backwards), 1984, Animal Farm, I actually like a few of Asimov's Fairy Tales (Bicentenial Man, AI, I, Robot), ok this list is getting pretty long, those are just a few

I tend to be a fantasy nerd, so I like books like Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series...

i started to read the Golden Compass but i got bored with it about 100 pages in.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. You need to keep reading it...the beginning is a bit slow. Once Lyra gets on her journey, the book picks up at a fantastic rate!

i'll have to reread it. thanks. :)

I had to read Plato's Republic for a course...it was ok, just like most other classical literature. :)

the golden compass was a favorite among the staff at the library i used to work at because all of the characters in the audio version had their own voice actor.

That's fairly rare. The book series is good enough to warrant it, IMO.

You speak Japanese?!?

I can fake it well enough but I don't consider myself fluent. At any rate, listening is far easier than speaking.
