shotochem
Hi all,I have come across a dojo that teaches Okinawian Kenpo and am interested it watching a class or two. My question to all is what is the major difference between Shotokan and Okinawian Kenpo? What about Kempo and Kenpo? I really have not had much exposure to this art but from what I am reading without seeing It interests me. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime. BLueDevil
Kenpo/kempo are the same, just different pronunciation of japanese charactersThe art is a mix of circular and linear striking it also mixes chin na (chinese grappling) a friend of mine studied shotokan and there seems to be more multiple striking in kenpo than in shotokan. i would suggest you check it out There is no teacher but the enemy. From my limited viewing of shotokan, it is a more ridgid (aka stiff) system also than Ken(m)po systems that I know. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. y2_sub
Okay .. so the striking in kempo is karate based and grappling is kung fu based ?? Moon might shine upon the innocent and the guilty alike
