John Bishop
Hi, do you guys know if there is a Kajukenbo school in Hull (now called Gatineau), Quebec, Canada. Or in Ottawa (two cities seperated by a bridge). I'm moving to Hull next summer and I'm interested by this style. Thanks in advance if you can help me.These are the only schools I know of in the Quebec province:Canadian Headquarters of Kajukenbo and Family Tree Co-Ordinator Instructor: Professor Philip Gelinas, 8th Degree System: Emperado Method & Ch'uan Fa Method Address: Academie D'Arts Martiaux Culturels 1121 St Catheriine St West, #201 Montreal, Canada H3B-1J5 514-281-9928 BARALIS KAJUKENBO (ORIGINAL METHOD) West-end gym,7025 Cote-St-Luc Montreal,Canada Instructor; Costas Baralis Phone# (514)571-6351 I got a question- what is the difference between Emperado Method and Chuan Fa Method?I don't know the extent of the differances. I've only seen one seminar on the "Chuan Fa" branch. Kajukenbopr
oh, its just I've heard about it but I havent actually seen it.As I was told, Emperado Method focused on Kenpo mostly, so I thought it wouldnt be too different to Chuan Fa Method.... But it seems they are different. <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty

Some other's have put their name to "methods" to try and separate thier version from the others. But that's impossible, as long as they call it "Kajukenbo", then it comes from Emperado's art.The "Original Method" is sometimes also refered to as the "Kenpo" branch. Or the "hard style" method. It's base is kenpo, but over 50% of the combinations also have judo/jujitsu/or kung fu techniques blended into the combinations. This makes it all the more easy to mix more than one technique and call it your own.I'll do some research to see what I can find on the "Chuan Fa Method" <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty

HapkidoDragon
Supposedly in the Original Method there are 14 kata's correct? Does anyone know how many are in the other methods?
freebird534
kajukenbo is an awesome style to study, it incoperates many different styles into it. I think from the looks of it you could pobably do it. You also have to remember that theyre is not really any set form for it, your sensai will mostly change it a little to what he, or yourself likes, as long as it works. But i would say definately signup, because ive learned a lot, also joe holck goes to my dojo. he is one of the 5 creators of kajukenbo. pretty amazing stuff, go for it! believe you can do anything and you are limitless

freebird534
joe holck is a really old. he can still do some stuff, but he mostly just watches the classes. I learn a lot just when i talk to him. His son Joseph holck also teaches jijitsu at my dojo, and i think hes a police officer or something like that. but they are very talented martial artist. believe you can do anything and you are limitless
