elbows_and_knees Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 what are plyometrics?basically bodyweight exercises done with the intent of building explosive power. they can also be performed with apparatus, such as a medicine ball.
Goju_boi Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 so for example push ups, dips, and pull ups? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
elbows_and_knees Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 no. those are only bodyweight exercises - no real explosion. Have you seen people do pushups where they launch themselves into the air and clap before they come down, then instantly explode back up to clap again? That is plyometric. jumping as high into the air as you can, then doing it again as soon as your feet touch the ground - that is plyometric.

elbows_and_knees Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 there are risks with everything when done improperly. You don't want to overuse plyos... you shouldn't do them any more than twice per week.

Muaythaiboxer Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 ok i see where you are going and i agree with you i just thought that plyometrics improved my game more than weights did. i also really like body weight exercises for example pushups, situps i plyometrics bring good explosive power and a faster recovery time when tired (or so i have hurd) i thought they really helped my speed. elbows_and_knees Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 They train the muscles to contract harder and more explosively, which increases power output.
