tkd2000 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I was wondering if anyone knew what Taekkyon is, because I was thinking about learning it? If anyone knows any video clips of Taekkyon that would be great
Goju_boi Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 its an old korean art that helped develop tkd,I don't know if it exists anymore https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
tkd2000 Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 I did some more research and found out that it is still taught, but it is not as in large quantities as some of the other martial arts. They say that they had nothing to do with Taekwondo and that much of the art was lost. The point of the Taekkyon is to get your opponent off balance. They do not agree with the use of padding like in taekwondo, because it does not give a realistic feel..at least thats what I've read
Goju_boi Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 well what I posted I got from a recent issue of black belt magazine https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
Goju_boi Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 did you get a chance to read it? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
rmclain Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 The following are some photos of TaeKyon.http://www.kimsookarate.com/gallery-old-days/song-duk-ki.htmlTaekyon was mostly lost during the Japanese occupation on Korea (1910-1945). There has been a recent interest in Taekyon in Korea. I believe this is a copy of that BB Mag. article you wrote about. It is from the author's web page:http://www.kimsookarate.com/articles/history2.htmlR. McLain
