Nidan Posted March 7, 2002 Posted March 7, 2002 Anyone here do karate competitions? Im gonna start doing them and I would like to know what they are like! Its mind over matterIf I dont mind you dont matter
CTpizzaboy Posted March 7, 2002 Posted March 7, 2002 Competition is great, but I don't have time for it anymore. The astmosphere of such a place is awesome, try to feed off the energy. Never be over confident, never have it in your mind that you are the better than anyone. This will keep you on your toes. Imagine having everyone in class telling you how good you are. You have beaten them all. Then not even placing at tournament. This is your first so it will taken a few more to learn how to relax yourself. Canh T.I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversations.
AnonymousOne Posted March 8, 2002 Posted March 8, 2002 I did competition in the first 8 years of training. That was a long time ago now 7th Dan ChidokaiA true combat warrior has to be hard as nails in mind, body and soul. Warriors are action takers and not action fakers. If you are cruising, make time for losing
Phantasmatic Posted March 8, 2002 Posted March 8, 2002 I've done many tournaments with Shotokan producers, they are fun and very competitive in kata and sparring. "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
Karateka Posted March 8, 2002 Posted March 8, 2002 Competitions are awesome. The amount of people there is amazing, and from many different styles. The food is great, the women are awesome, and there is media coverage. Of course that is in my HUMBLE opinion. Have fun.
