Goju_boi Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 are the simple blocks the "sticky hands"/chi sao thing? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
stonecrusher69 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 The style of WC I practice is liniar but has circular footwork also.We have a whole form based on that. Not all WC styles are liniar and some do have animal forms in them as well. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"
MenteReligieuse Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Circular footwork in wing chun? Interesting. In my class we train a bit in shaolin deep stances to strenghten the legs, and also do some grappling and ground control. Still pretty linear, other than sidestepping diagonaly to get out of the way of the opponents forward momentum.
stonecrusher69 Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 the form we practice is called siu baat gua (little trigram)its our 4th form in Fut Sao it deal with steping in circular movements. If you look at the wooden dummy form (yip Man)the stepping has part of the circular or the siu baat gua but its incomplete as it does not complete the circle. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"
Goju_boi Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 so what is this "sticky hands"/chi sao thing that I always hear when somebidy is talking about wing chun? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
Traditional-Fist Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 basically, it's the wing chun system as taught by emin bozteppe. As far as I know, none ot the WC systems do any real grappling, other than what some of them refer to as "anti grappling". I have a friend who has spent several years in WT, and he doesn't grapple at all.The Wing Chun style practiced by me has grappling and ground fighting, praciticed by the more advanced level students, using, of course Wing Chun principles and concepts. Use your time on an art that is worthwhile and not on a dozen irrelevant "ways".
Goju_boi Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 The Hung Fa Yi lineage taught at my school has ground work as well https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
