yamesu Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Thats what it sounds like to me.Like what a jab is to a straight-cross. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children."
Ben Martin Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 you actually cannot throw in MT. that doesn't mean that there aren't throws you will be taught though. thai boxing has a rule against judo style throws where you lift them over your body. you can sweep, technically, but once again, you can't do it in a judo type styleis that what i see when i see 2 fighters who and clinching and one gets thrown down? are there any type of throws in MT that you are able to do? elbows_and_knees Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 there are some takedowns they do from the clinch, for eaxample scooping a knee that has been thrown at you. there is also the cut kick in where you kick their base leg from under them. you can scoop a teep and raise the leg as high as possible as you walk them forward, offbalancing them and causing them to fall. I've learned some traditional takedowns as well, but I don't think they can be done in the ring.
elbows_and_knees Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Well, a front kick has a lot more power behind it than a simple teep. A teep is almost just like a feeler, a little poker to gage distance and stop your opponent from advancing so freely.that is one application of it, yes. it can also be done with power - like a rear teep. a "simple teep" is really no different in application than a front kick from a striking perspective. It is only different mechanically. A solid teep can knock the wind out of you just as a front kick can.
Muaythaiboxer Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 there is a hip throw we lurned that when you are in the clinch you side step and load them up on your hip then turn and throw them. but its not ring legal. Fist visible Strike invisible
