Jackets
I'm not a complete newbie to martial arts as I studied American style Karate for many years. I got bored of it because it's movements were to "cookie cutter". I don't mean to make any Karate people out there mad I'm just saying what I expercanced. I was wondering what style I should now study? Mainly for street style defence. I'm considering Vale Tudo. Any comments would be appreated. I would like as much information about as many different styles as possible. Thanks in advance!!

three60roundhouse
What do you mean by "vale tudo"? I suggest first seeing which schools in your areas teach which arts...if I was you I'd look for wing chun, muay thai, or brazilian jiu-jitsu or another grappling art, or a combination. 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt! Do these guys really teach JKD, Jun Fan boxing(Bruce), Escrima(Dan), some basic Wing Chun etc? JKD isn't really a style, at least according to Bruce. Just wondering are they certified and by whom? YODA
Their JKD lineage & certification is via Sifu Richard Bustillo. So yes, they are properly certified. gracie_jujitsu_is1
90% of street fights end up on the ground...take that into consideration...brazillian jujitsu can teach you offense and defense in this situation. i'm also a big fan of thai boxing (though i don't study it.) it is very effective, brutal even...but don't limit yourself to what other people think either try things out...do research find out what fits you. i'll say again, i'm just throwing my opinion out...good luck. pull them in, take them down, choke them out. Dojo02
HOW...How does 90% percent of fights end up on the ground...who conducts these surveys..So my fights are all standing up..never went to the ground yet...should i say that 90% of fights dont go to the ground. I apprecitate opinions but come on..base it on some fact. dont base it on a UFC champion winning using juijutsu which did happen in the early 90's and all of a sudden everyone said that all fights end up on the ground. Lets be real here.
