viskous
well im doin tae-kwon-do right now and im hoping to some time in the not too near future to start doin kung-fu also, then one day when im old and gray maybe do some karate.......would training extensively in two or three different arts be detrimental to my training in any one???.......and what level in tae-kwon-do should i shoot for before starting to do kung fu at the same time??..........after i get deeper in to taekwon do i might give up on other arts but ive always been fond of kung fu........and i do train hard im not just looking to get a decent belt in a bunch of styles, im really lookin to train to extremely high levels, is it possible to get to such high levels in several different MA's starting at age 17? Sam
So long as you keep the training separate there shouldnt be a problem cross training.... what you may want to do is augment those striking arts with a grappling art as well i.e. jujitsu, judo, hapkido, etc. What you may discover when cross training at an early stage with similar striking arts, or just any striking arts, is that the methods and approaches to technique may bleed into each otehr, and you find your self making mistakes, if you know you can avoid this and keep the training separate then go for it..... Sam
i think we have a couple of hapkido / combat hapkido-ists onthe board, look around for them they might be able to give you some tips - from what i understand its a good all-round art.

Bleeding Lion
like sam said, as long as you can keep everything separate in your head, go for it.and if you do, dont do the mistake of saying "thats not how we do it in style X" in the school of style Y. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence thus, is not an act, but a habit. --- Aristotle
