I would ask this on a DVD forum, but i wanna try my luck out here first.

The problem is my dad has a laptop that has a DVD-R and it wont read or even open my Blank DVD. All that happens is the drive light blinks and thats it. I guess he wants to format it to be able to write music onto it so he can play them on his fancy mp3 cd player (the ones that compile alot of music on them as opposed to regular cds)

Is it even possible to listen to listen to a dvd disk in mp3 format on a mp3 cd player. He says he can listen to them on his DVD player but w/e hes weird, advice would be much appreciated thanks.

not listen to on an mp3 CD player.... cds and dvds use different lasers

as for the laptop issue could be a whole host of issues.

It might be that you got + / - reader writer and the disc is formatted differently... have a look and make sure it all matches up. how old is the laptop?

Yea, i told him to go buy regular cd-r's and he did and he got it to work. Hes not too computer savvy but at least he listened to me this time. Thanks for the advice though.
