bustr
Did anyone see "You Gotta See This" on Fox Sports? They had a brief segment of shin kicking competitions in Gloucestershire, England. I didn't realize this game was still played. Does anyone know of any websites?

YODA
The "sport" of Porring (Shin kicking) was very popular in the mines around the area which I live (Wigan in NW England) and was often used to settle disputes between miners. There are / where two versions. 1. The easy one - for the softies The two combatants stand facing each other on a stone flag (approx 900x600mm) with hands on each others shoulders. On the command of the adjudicator they would proceed to kick the crap out of each others shins - they wore iron shod wooden clogs. The loser was the first to quit by stepping off the flag. 2. The hard one - for tough guys / nutters only. Same basic format - only this time they draw lots to see who goes first. Then they take it in turns to take their best shot at the other guys shin. Yeeeouch! Makes this full contact stick fighting stuff I do look tame!
